Beach Days & Matching Hats

One of our favorite summertime activities is to hang out by the lake on the beaches. Before moving to Chicago, I knew the city was right on Lake Michigan, but I had no idea how awesome the lakefront really is. You step out onto the beach and kind of forget you are in a big city. Pretty much every single weekend since living here, Russell and I have woken up early in the morning on the weekends and taken the dogs over to the lake. It’s seriously our favorite thing to do in the city and I want Kennedy to grow up having memories of morning walks and playing by the lake. Right now at 7 months, she is just super fascinated by the sand and how it falls through her fingers when she picks it up. If you couldn’t tell, talking about this makes me so happy because anyone from Chicago can tell you the city is sooooo much better in the summer. The last two winters haven’t even been that bad, but it truly just is a different city in the summer.

For summer, I am loving anything with ruffles and anything eyelet. This top from Madewell is one of my favorites (although it runs a little short, so size up). You might be seeing this hat on me alot this summer in future posts, but it is the BEST summer hat. The last few years and especially now since having a baby, I have become super conscious of sun protection, making sure I always have sunscreen on or hats to make sure my face and hair doesn’t get too much sun.

How cute is this watermelon outfit on Kennedy?! I’m pretty sure I love dressing her and shopping for her clothes more than my own at this point! When I was pregnant I started looking for cute boutiques or small shops for baby clothes. My sister-in-law and I found this onesie from one of our favorite bloggers, Amber Fillerup Clark of Barefoot Blonde. Kennedy has quite a few outfits that I’ve seen Rosie wear. The Hello Ellie Shop, on Etsy has unique prints with fruits and patterns perfect for summer! Being a shoe addict myself, baby shoes were actually the first thing I bought when I found out I was pregnant. It’s almost embarrassing how many shoes Kennedy has, but I will say that none stay on her feet as well as the Freshly Picked Moccs. They have the cutest patterns too! I remember watching the FP episode a few years ago on Shark Tank and I just love the brand.

Hope everyone has a great weekend 🙂

XO, Sarah
