A few posts back I said I wanted to make an effort to spend more time outside and really enjoy summer before it ends. Now that Kennedy is always on the move, it’s increasingly getting harder to keep the apartment in order. Some days I feel like all I do is pick up her little blocks she loves to scatter seriously all over the apartment. It’s really nice to sometimes just forget about my to-do list for a little bit and get some fresh air. There is a really cute area just a few blocks west of us. We walk past the most amazing town homes and there is a really nice park with a playground at the end of the street. Kennedy likes the swings, but most of the time she gets so distracted and loves watching all the other kids run around and play. I’m also trying to really enjoy living downtown. We aren’t planning on moving anytime soon, but possibly in the next year or two we may want to move a little further north towards Lincoln Park to get a little more space. I know once we move out of downtown we won’t be coming back so right now I love summers in the city and being able to walk everywhere. I know I will miss this someday.
I like to bring some fruit with us and sit down in the grass after we get done at the playground. Since she was 7 months old, she was over the puree baby foods. She has always loved trying to take bites of food or pick up small pieces on her own. Watermelon, blueberries, and strawberries are her favorite fruits. Although I don’t think there is really any food she doesn’t like. This girl loves to eat! Each month I keep saying that “this is my favorite baby age,” but it keeps getting better. I love that she is starting to really understand and pick up on a lot of words. She gets so excited and will clap when she is happy. It’s so fun seeing her explore and learn new things.
