80 degrees in October

I realized I haven’t posted in a while, but it’s been a busy last 3 weeks for us. It feels like we have been traveling non-stop and I’ve taken this week to finally try to get unpacked and get back into a normal routine. Even though I am so ready to start wearing my sweaters and boots, it’s be hard to do with the weather being in the 70s and 80s. I know I am breaking the “no white after labor day rule,” but I really couldn’t resist on such a nice day over by the lake. Kennedy is getting super close to walking and I was so excited when I saw that Salt Water sandals makes shoes for babies too. They are so comfy and I wore them our whole vacation at the beach. (They run a little large so size down/ the sizing is also sort of strange in general, I think I actually ordered a kids size, even though I wear a size 8 in womens). For this post, I’ll do a 10 things since I have alot to say about life lately.

Summer Recap

Sarah Gray (49)

Even though today is technically the first day of fall, I’m not quite ready to bust out the sweaters and boots just yet (and especially not with this 90 degree Chicago weather!). Since we still have a few hot weekends left, I thought I would share some photos from the beach and some of our favorite baby/kid friendly things we did this summer in the city.

Endless Summer

0801_Sarah-Gray-(1)

I’ve felt so fortunate the last 9 months because Kennedy has been such an easy baby. I kind of hate talking about it because I don’t ever want to sound like I am bragging or Russell and I are expert parents. This is our first so we clearly are just learning as we go, but we’ve really truly lucked out with how chill and what a good sleeper Kennedy has always been. I will probably talk about her sleep schedule in a later post, but Kennedy started sleeping through the night 2 days after we brought her home from the hospital, (I don’t know what kind of magic happened or what we ever did to deserve that).

Flamingos

Sarah-Gray-(81)_f

Happy Tuesday! The weeks have been flying by and I can not believe next week will already be August! I feel like summer just started and although I do love fall, I’m not ready for summer to be over anytime soon. We’ve had a lot going on these last few weekends. I was just looking at our August calendar and we have something planned every weekend. I shouldn’t be complaining (it’s all fun stuff!), but I feel like the weeks fly by so much faster when we have a lot planned. Kennedy is at such a fun age now, she loves exploring and crawling around, but she isn’t fast enough that I have to chase her all over the place. I’ve been trying to make it a point to take her outside a lot more during the day. We always go for a walk with the dogs, but I’m going to try to take her to the playground to swing or have picnic lunches over at the beach more often during the last few weeks of summer. Here are some photos taken before we went to the beach last week.

4th of July Weekend

SEG_j4_F3

Happy 4th of July! Here are a few photos from this weekend. Saturday we spent all day at the beach and it was the perfect day. It wasn’t too hot and the beach wasn’t super crowded. Kennedy napped on the walk there and played in the sand for hours. Our friends just moved into a brand new apartment a few blocks away from us and we spent  a lot of time at their pool. The rest of the weekend we took the dogs for walks or just relaxed. It was the perfect mix of beach/pool activities and just hanging out.

Beach Days & Matching Hats

Sarah-Gray--(93)_2

One of our favorite summertime activities is to hang out by the lake on the beaches. Before moving to Chicago, I knew the city was right on Lake Michigan, but I had no idea how awesome the lakefront really is. You step out onto the beach and kind of forget you are in a big city. Pretty much every single weekend since living here, Russell and I have woken up early in the morning on the weekends and taken the dogs over to the lake.
