Holiday time has always been one of my favorite times of the year, and now with the girls, it’s even more magical. Seeing their faces light up opening presents or looking at all the decorations is the best. We started doing matching family pjs the first year Kennedy was born and I hope to keep it a tradition as long as we can. Here are some of the photos we took for our Christmas card this year.
Wow, it’s been a reallyyyy long time since I’ve posted on here and a lot of (really special) things have happened since then! We welcomed our new baby girl Scarlett into the world on Sept 5th. I think the last time I wrote a blog post was probably around the time I found out I was pregnant with her…
I have a love-hate relationship with the weather in Chicago from Jan-March. It’s so so cold, which makes me not want to ever go outside. Part of me loves being super lazy and enjoying more down time, but after a while I start to get major cabin fever. Below are a few of our tips for staying warm in Chibera.
A little late posting these pictures, but I’ve been trying to get back into the swing of things after the holiday season. Also, Kennedy got her first cold, so we’ve been taking it pretty easy over here. Even though we already took our tree down, we’ll definitely be wearing these leggings all winter long. They are from one of my favorite Etsy shops, Hello Ellie. They have the CUTEST prints and these leggings are super soft! I love that they offer a few different patterns in mommy & me styles (makes it easy to match ;)). Below are some links to the outfit details. Hope everyone had a great New Year!
I’m so excited Christmas vacation officially starts today and I wanted to share some photos we took last weekend walking around the city. I love seeing the gorgeous townhomes all decorated for the holidays. All the lights and decorations throughout the city make the Chicago winters semi-tolerable. I can’t wait to spend some quality time with my family and see Kennedy open presents this weekend! Wishing you all a very merry Christmas surrounded by the ones you love most!
Happy Halloween! Quick post with some photos from our pumpkin patch visits this month. We stopped at the stand on Clark/Ontario in the city and then also made a trip out to the suburbs to Sunny Acre Farms. I was really impressed with Sunny Acre Farms. There is so much to do for kids – food stands, rides, games, petting zoo, hay rides, gift shops, and more. They also do a whole Christmas market/tree farm in December and I think we might go to that this winter because I can’t believe how nice they had it setup for Halloween. Kennedy just woke up from a nap so that’s why she is zoning out in some of these photos. haha! She was so obsessed with playing with leaves though, that’s all she wanted to do. Russ carved Kennedy’s first pumpkin for her and I attempted to roast the seeds, but actually got them a little too crispy. We dressed Kennedy and the dogs up in their Lion costumes on Saturday (check out my insta for pics) and went to the little Halloween festival at a park down the street, but it freezing so we didn’t stay long. Overall it was a fun weekend, especially because OSU won and our ‘Nittany Lion tamer’ costumers were worth it. 🙂
I know I said I was ready for cooler temperatures, but wow did it get cold in the city fast! I’m definitely ready for layering sweaters, but I wasn’t prepared to have to bust my winter coat and uggs out yesterday. When I saw this light pink vest in Zara for Kennedy, there was no way I could pass it up. I think I say that about something every time we go in Zara, but they seriously have the cutest stuff for babies! The last few winters I’ve been buying a ton of sweaters from H&M. They aren’t super expensive and I like that a lot of them are already oversized so you don’t usually have to size up. I also got this sweater in gray because I loved it so much.
I realized I haven’t posted in a while, but it’s been a busy last 3 weeks for us. It feels like we have been traveling non-stop and I’ve taken this week to finally try to get unpacked and get back into a normal routine. Even though I am so ready to start wearing my sweaters and boots, it’s be hard to do with the weather being in the 70s and 80s. I know I am breaking the “no white after labor day rule,” but I really couldn’t resist on such a nice day over by the lake. Kennedy is getting super close to walking and I was so excited when I saw that Salt Water sandals makes shoes for babies too. They are so comfy and I wore them our whole vacation at the beach. (They run a little large so size down/ the sizing is also sort of strange in general, I think I actually ordered a kids size, even though I wear a size 8 in womens). For this post, I’ll do a 10 things since I have alot to say about life lately.
Even though today is technically the first day of fall, I’m not quite ready to bust out the sweaters and boots just yet (and especially not with this 90 degree Chicago weather!). Since we still have a few hot weekends left, I thought I would share some photos from the beach and some of our favorite baby/kid friendly things we did this summer in the city.
I wanted to share some family photos we got done recently in Olive Park (one of our favorite spots in the city). Our first apartment when we moved to Chicago was in Streeterville. It was a 5 minute walk to the lake and I would take the dogs to Olive Park to play everyday. This park has a great view of the city and has plenty of grass for the dogs to run around. Buster has problems and thinks he is bigger than Ari. Let’s just say he is super defensive of his frisbee and almost tried to fight a 130lb mastiff so we can’t take him into dog parks anymore. Now we don’t live as close to the lake, we don’t make it to Olive Park as often, but we still try to go once or twice on weekends. I thought for this post I would share 10 random things about us…
